About the Point Topic Ontology

The Point Topic Ontology is used to manage data related to telecommunications companies and their networks. It's created by Point Topic to structure the real world of telecoms into categories and relationships. It is based on the Common Telecoms Ontology (CTO), which we developed as an open-source project.

The Point Topic Ontology is used to tag and structure all of our business data, and is used to create the visualizations and tables you see on this page.

Classes

Things or concepts in the telecoms world, such as ISPs, Network Operators, and Services.

Object Properties

Links between classes, like an ISP using a Network or offering a Service.

Data Properties

Links between classes and data, such as the number of subscribers for an ISP.

Ontology in Action

For example, in our ontology:

  • Class: ISP (Internet Service Provider) and Network: cto_isp, cto_network
  • Object Property: "uses network" (linking an ISP to a Network): cto_uses_network
  • Data Property: "has subscribers" (number of subscribers for an ISP): cto_has_subscribers
